“Our vision is to live in a world where women and girls feel empowered and fulfilled at each stage of their life.”
The Nest Southwest CIC is on a mission to provide emotional & educational support, improve well-being, and boost self-esteem for women and girls.
We aim to support women and girls from pre-puberty, through menstruation, pregnancy and childbirth, to post-menopause.
The Nest Southwest was formed as a Community Interest Company (CIC) at the end of 2019. Created by three local Devon women with a united vision of supporting women and girls at key transitions throughout their life.
Our first project for 2020 was to create a set of accessible antenatal sessions to prepare women for giving birth and for early parenting. We are working with local organisations and community groups to identify the gaps in antenatal care and provide essential yet gentle support, information and a safe space for women to network with each other as they prepare for the birth of their child.
We secured funding from Devon Community Foundation to turn this dream into a reality. Then the covid-19 pandemic hit and transformed the way maternity services were being delivered and we realised that women needed a way to get support, and quickly. We responded by setting up weekly Pregnancy Well-being meetings online using zoom, to connect local women and offer support in these rapidly changing times. Get in touch to find out more, join the group, or refer a friend. At present, our work is focused on Exeter, Exmouth and surrounding areas.
